Music provides a significant therapeutic outlet for our students.

Music is a creative non- verbal medium through which students can connect and engage with others.

Music goals mirror the needs and goals of the students at Ruru Specialist School.

We currently have an onsite music teacher, a specialist musician and a dedicated music room.

Students benefit from individual, group and whole school therapeutic music interventions.

The music room is an environment where students can express themselves in a variety of ways. The music therapy room is well equipped with guitars, keyboards, organs, percussion and even its own mixing console.

It is a positive setting where the students all love to participate in many activities.
